I know some of you have already noticed that the OPPO Reno 6 5G‘s new design is similar to the iPhone 12 Pro last year. The squared flat shape build or what the company called a “Flat-edge” design is reminiscent of the 2012’s iPhone 5s and last year’s iPhone 12 Pro. The non-curve frame has a smooth sensation when you touch its sides, it’s skinny and smooth as well. It also has antenna bands around, just like iPhone devices, and this boosts the signal strength. But this is not the only thing you will see on the OPPO Reno 6 5G.

reno 6 5g 14 1The company also introduced the new OPPO Reno Glow design. A unique and clever design technology from OPPO with a lovely glowing effect like on the glass while still having the matte-looking texture. The effect is better in the Aurora variant as it reflects a dual-tone color when hit by a light source. Unfortunately, we only got our hands to the Stellar Black, but it still has the Glow effect on the back. It makes the device fingerprint-proof while still having a glossy-like finish.

I am fascinated with this idea that you thought impossible. Still, with different coating and materials, the company can make a device that is safe from the touch while having an aesthetic design.

Best Midrange Performance

23 3There are still midrange devices equipped with Snapdragon 720G this year, while the latest 5G midrange phones are equipped with Dimensity 700 5G or some Snapdragon 768G 5G. But OPPO Reno 6 is pretty unique, having the higher Dimensity 900 5G inside. Before the Honor 50 SE and X20, OPPO Reno 6 5G is the first to equip this powerful chipset. It is also one of the midrange devices equipped with a smaller 6nm chipset that enables more power efficiency.

Compared to the predecessor, it has a 20% higher GPU frequency, a 750mhz for Snapdragon 765G versus the 900mhz for the Dimensity 900 5G. Making it a better option for heavy gaming. It also has a smaller transistor six versus the seven nanometers. And the numbers from benchmarks are 35% higher in Antutu and 8.5% higher in multicore rendering in Geekbench 5.

While compared to the Snapdragon 768G 5G, on paper, Dimensity 900 5G is 20% Higher in GPU frequency and up to 37% higher for the CPU.  Meanwhile, compared to the Dimensity 700 5G, the chipset powering the Reno 6 5G is only 6% higher in GPU frequency but 65% higher in CPU processing. Almost double the power, which is one of the values you will pay for if you decided to go for the OPPO Reno 6 5G.

This 2021, there is a new tech upgrade for most phones, especially for Color OS and Realme UI– it’s the RAM Expansion. It is a new feature where you can choose how much ram you want to add from the storage, either 2, 3, or 5GB extra RAM. It is a great feature that will reduce frame drops in gaming and add stability to ram-eating apps. It can make multi-tasking much more manageable and this tech is already in the OPPO Reno 6 5G’s ColorOS 11.3.

But on top of that, ColorOS 11.3 has subtle features built into the system. They have this underlying technology built-in, called “anti-stuck engine“. A background process that enables responsiveness and smooth experience throughout the entire UI navigation. OPPO Reno 6 5G is already in this OS version means that it gets the faster pre-loaded apps, touch response optimization, IoT interconnection, and Quantum Animation Engine 2.0. Browsing is uninterrupted and the UI is even lighter, smoother, and fluid, thanks to the engines and 90Hz capability.

Content Creation is still available on the Reno 6 5G with technical features such as Expert mode and Movie mode that enable DSLR-like controls when taking photos and videos. Even the slow-motion can capture a whopping 960fps@720p and 480fps@1080p quality. The night mode has tripod mode as well for better nighttime shots and the Extra HD for versatility. Fun features like the Soloop Templates, Sticker, Dual-View Video, and Bokeh flare portrait and AI color portrait for the filters are also present in the Reno 6 5G. Flagship Level Fast Charging

reno 6 5g 27 1Lower midrangers usually have 18W quick charging; higher midrange phones have common 30-33W and sometimes can go up to 50-65W depending on the model. What makes the OPPO Reno 6 5G unique, in the Premium midrange category, is the flagship-level 65W fast charging. The 4300mAh can be fully charged via the 65W Supervooc 2.0 Fast Charging for just 33 minutes which is 2 minutes less than advertised. It is pretty impressive and above expectation.

There are higher to premium midrange devices worth mentioning, such as Realme 7 Pro and Poco F3 GT. They both have 65W fast charging, but the key difference from the OPPO Reno 6 5G is the two devices are only equipped with USB Type-C 2.0, while the Reno 6 5G is already equipped with a USB Type-C 3.1 port. This means it is faster, a higher version means better, and it’s not about the charging but also the transfer speed.

Overall
