According to Bloomberg, 15 current or former Black Tesla employees have filed a lawsuit against the company claiming that it failed to prevent racial discrimination at its Fremont, California factory.
It was revealed in a lawsuit filed last week with a California court that workers claimed that they were subjected to racial slurs, derogatory remarks, and racially-motivated harassment on the job due to racial slurs and derogatory comments.
A worker who has filed a lawsuit alleges that his colleagues frequently used the N-word and other racist and discriminatory terms to describe the factory’s work environment to represent the factory’s work culture.
Tesla is also alleged to have left racist graffiti on the walls of the bathrooms, benches, lockers, and workstations of the company that contained the words “KKK,” “N-word,” and drawings of Hindu swastikas on them.
One of the plaintiffs, Jasmin Wilson, says she was sexually and racially harassed by her coworkers and managers. Wilson’s managers allegedly failed to report the discrimination and retaliated by establishing policies targeting her.
The lawsuit alleges management also participated in the harassment, ignored repeated complaints, and retaliated against workers.
In retaliation for continually reporting racial discrimination at Tesla, Nathaniel Aziel Gonsalves claims he was suddenly fired after nine years. Other Tesla employees claim they were denied promotions and given physically demanding jobs due to their race.
