The feature uses the platform’s recommendation system to select songs, combining it with generative AI technology developed with OpenAI.
It also includes a synthetic voice system from Spotify’s Sonantic acquisition to provide spoken commentary about tracks and artists.
The AI DJ curates a continuous stream of music by mixing new releases with older songs from a user’s history.
It updates recommendations over time based on user feedback, allowing listeners to switch styles or moods using a dedicated button.
The AI DJ can be accessed through the Music Feed section of the Spotify mobile app.
As of March 2026, the Spotify AI DJ is available in English and Spanish for Premium users in selected countries in Europe and Asia.
