Two different class of phones but under the same Xperia Brand and close price range (P15.9k vs P12.9k pesos) from Sony. Which from Xperia C4 or M4 Aqua dual is the right choice for you? Checkout our comparison and review below.
The Xperia M4 Aqua is a lookalike to Xperia Z3+ with metal frame, glass body and waterproof treatment. On the other hand, the Xperia C4 is built with polycarbonate body and metal frame.
Difference in size is also huge because of M4 Aqua’s 5-inch display compared to the 5.5-inch of C4.
The departure of Xperia M4 Aqua’s design and construction from the Xperia Z3+ made it look classier and sturdier than any mid-range Xperia devices.
Winner: Xperia M4 Aqua
Despite having half inch wider display, the Xperia C4 remained sharper than the Xperia M4 Aqua. Brightness is close but the colors are more vivid in the C4. We also like how clear the screen is even under light.
Winner: Xperia C4
The same 13MP camera is found in Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4. However, there is difference in terms of image and video quality. Images of Xperia M4 are sharper with much visible resolved details. The Xperia C4 takes too soft images, most of the details are lost. But noticeably the shots of Xperia C4 are livelier and brighter.
In terms of video shooting capability, the two record up to FHD video. The quality on both shooters is a close match especially in brightness and audio.
Winner: Still – Xperia M4 Aqua, Video – Tie
The Mediatek 6752 octacore chip on Xperia C4 is slightly clocked higher, 1.7GHz in each core. The one on Snapdragon 615 of Xperia M4 Aqua is set to two speeds, mainly the first four cores are clocked at 1.5GH each while the other four at 1GHz. This gives an advantage for Xperia C4 in benchmark and overall performance.
Winner: Boot up – Tie (fraction of second difference) / Actual game run – Xperia C4 / Benchmark – Xperia C4
It’s no lie that Sony Xperia series has one of the best speakers in mobile phones. We checked the speaker both and we found out that they are very close in terms of quality while Xperia C4 slightly edging out the M4 in loudness. The audio output of the two sound very balanced, highs are not tinny and basses are well-formed.
We still give this round to Xperia C4 because of the slightly powerful speaker.
Winner: Xperia C4
For the difference of around P3k, the Xperia C4 is the more expensive unit. This difference equates to higher resolution and wider display, and slightly bumped CPU speed. And for selfie lovers, the C4 offers a dedicated flash on its front-facing camera.
But what will you get on the slightly affordable Xperia M4 when buy it? You get a classy design and more compact body that works well with one-handed operation. The rest specs and features are close to the Xperia C4.
