Sony Bravia explains 4K HDR in Xperia XZ Premium
Xperia XZ Premium brought a couple of “world’s first” in its arsenal, one of those is the 4K HDR screen. 4K screen was first seen on the Z5 Premium but the addition of HDR to the game makes us wonder – what could be special about it?

What is 4k HDR?
4K HDR or High Dynamic Range produces better contrast ratio and color gamut compared to standard display that we’ve seen. For the last few years, improving our viewing experience relied on cramming millions of pixels in our screen. But with the addition of HDR, each pixel is improved in color and contrast – making it more immersive and closer to real life.
What about 4K HDR content?
In partnership with Amazon, through Prime Video App, Xperia XZ Premium users will be able to enjoy watching TV shows and movies like The Man in High Castle and The Grand Tour with better quality than we are used to.
In terms of photography, even old 35mm films are capable of remastering into 4K HDR.

Sony sees the future with 8K resolution but added that it’s too early to talk about that. They also observed that 4K HDR is becoming more of a mainstream technology for the next few years at least, for TV world.
