Smart Becomes First Telco To Completely Rollout VoLTE for HD Calling

A few years after Voice-Over-LTE (VoLTE) became available in the country, Smart Communications has finally completed its VoLTE rollout to Smart Prepaid and Smart Signature subscribers nationwide. For the consumers, that means you can take advantage of high-definition voice calling while simultaneously connected to the 4G network on your LTE-capable device.

To make VoLTE calls, subscribers need to enable VoLTE in their phone’s settings. Once activated, customers may simply use their phone’s native dialer to make calls – no separate app is needed.

Smart also launched Voice-over-Wifi (VoWiFi), virtually the same service but over Wi-Fi. Provided you’re connected to any available Wi-Fi connection, you can make and receive calls and texts through the internet. Calls made with VoLTE and VoWiFi will be charged like normal calls against the customer’s active subscription. For customers without an active subscription, local and international voice and text rates will apply.
