Samsung Stops First Galaxy Fold Software Updates

After four years of updates, Samsung has officially stopped providing software support for its first foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold. This isn’t surprising, given that the Fold is now four years old and has been succeeded by newer models.

Although the Galaxy Fold is still a functional device, users won’t receive any more security updates or new features. This could potentially leave the phone vulnerable to security risks and incompatible with newer apps and services.

The Galaxy Fold’s launch in 2019 had some design issues that caused delays. Despite the setbacks, the device eventually made it to the market, but its high price and limited availability hindered its widespread use.

Samsung had been providing software updates for the Galaxy Fold until recently. However, with the release of the November 2023 security patch, the Galaxy Fold has been removed from Samsung’s list of supported devices.

If you still own a Galaxy Fold, it’s a good time to consider upgrading to a newer model like the Galaxy Z Fold 4 or Galaxy Z Fold 5, which offer a much better user experience than the original Fold.
