With the debut of not one, but two brand-new flagship folding devices, the foldable smartphone market has once again become fascinating. One is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, and the other is the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, both of which were unveiled the following day. If we were to compare the specifications of these two gadgets side by side which one do you think is superior?
Xiaomi wants the MIX Fold 2 to stand out from the competition, but the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s internal flexibility is more practical since it protects the pliable AMOLED screen from the environment. The Galaxy Z Fold4’s design allows you to use it as a regular phone thanks to its 6.2-inch 120hz AMOLED outside the display.
The foldable screen design is identical across both devices. Each has a bigger folding screen inside as well as cover screens. Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold4, the MIX Fold 2’s cover display is bigger and has a little higher quality. A refresh rate of 120Hz is shared by both cover screens. For protection, the Galaxy Z Fold4 utilizes the more recent Gorilla Glass Victus+. When examining the internal display, the MIX Fold 2 has a bigger screen, but the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a few more pixels per inch. Both also support HDR10+ and offer a 120Hz refresh rate. The MIX Fold 2 uses SCHOTT UTG glass for protection, whereas the Galaxy Z Fold4 has Gorilla Glass Victus+. The two devices each have a unique AMOLED display when it comes to the type of panel they employ. Still, we can anticipate both having rich blacks and vibrant hues.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 flagship chipset, which has an octa-core CPU and Adreno 730 GPU, powers both of the foldable smartphones. The two also have the same 256GB, 512GB, 1TB storage, and 12GB RAM. Dedicated slot cards are not supported by any of these smartphones. They have the same high-end version of Android combined with different latest UI of their origins, the Fold 4 has Android 12L with One UI 4.1.1 while the Mix Fold 2 has Android 12 combined with MIUI Fold 13. If we notice the two are equally dominant when it comes to their operating systems.
Both devices contain triple-main cameras setup with a 50MP Main camera for imaging. But some of its software capabilities and the Leica logo are included on the MIX Fold 2. On the other hand, the MIX Fold 2 has a greater ultra-wide camera resolution than the Fold 4, which has a higher telephoto camera resolution. The Fold 4 combines multiple cameras for selfies, one for the cover screen and one for the internal display, which is smartly tucked behind the display itself. The MIX Fold 2 just features a selfie camera for the cover screen, on the other hand.
The connection features on both foldable phones are practically identical: dual-SIM, 5G, WiFi 6e, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GBS, and USB-C. Both include stereo speakers, with the MIX Fold 2 tuned by Harman Kardon and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 tuned by AKG. Both devices also include fingerprint scanners, however, the MIX Fold 2’s scanner is located beneath the display while the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s is on the side. The Fold 4 has the benefit of supporting the S Pen Fold Edition and IPX8 water resistance. It contains an IR blaster for the MIX Fold 2.
Although with only 100mAh, the MIX Fold 2 is undoubtedly superior in terms of battery life. Furthermore, it has a 67W more efficient charging rate that can fully drain its battery in 36 minutes. But on the other hand, the Fold 4 is equipped with 15W reverse wireless charging and 25W of fast charging that can fill half of its battery in an estimated time of 27 minutes.
According to their quality, features, and with the help of spec sheets, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is the best option if you want a foldable with an in-display front camera for the internal display, water resistance, support for an S Pen, wireless charging, Samsung DeX, and usability for the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem. While Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, on the other hand, has a larger screen, a slimmer body, Leica cameras, an IR blaster, a larger battery, and substantially quicker charging.
