First available through postpaid plans, finally, Samsung Galaxy A42‘s official SRP in the Philippines is now out. As reported first by PinoyTechnoGuide, the 5G handset costs Php19,990 when you purchase it unlocked. With that price, as if 2020 couldn’t be more unpredictable, the Galaxy A42 is the most expensive 720p Android phone we’ve seen by far. You do get a Super AMOLED display, though.
While you do have to settle for a mediocre resolution screen, you’re still getting a capable chipset in the Snapdragon 750 that also brings a 5G modem already. It’s paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB expandable storage. The main camera uses a 48MP sensor, while the teardrop notch houses a 20MP selfie sensor. You can expect great battery life, thanks to the 5000mAh battery, but charging time will test your patience due to the 15W USB-C charger.

It’s surprising to see a 720p phone priced at Php19,990! With so many options in the market, I wonder if Samsung is justifying this price with features other than the display. Looking forward to hearing more about its performance and overall value!

I can’t believe the Galaxy A42 is priced at Php19,990 for a 720p display! It feels like manufacturers are really pushing boundaries with pricing while compromising on specs. I wonder how it compares with other mid-range phones that offer better displays at lower prices. What do you all think?

I’m really surprised that the Samsung Galaxy A42 is priced at Php19,990 with only a 720p display. It makes me question the value for money, especially when there are competitors offering better specs at lower prices. Anyone else feel like this is a bit of a stretch for a mid-range phone?

I can’t believe Samsung is charging Php19,990 for a 720p display! That’s quite steep, considering there are so many options out there with better specs for the same price. It makes you wonder if they expect us to pay for the brand alone. Definitely a pass for me!
