Samsung Display has unveiled a new OLED technology at the International Meeting on Information Display (IMID) 2026 in Busan, South Korea.
The company introduced its 7.6-inch WideView Display.
The technology addresses brightness loss on the curved section of foldable screens. Samsung Display said current foldable displays can have around 40% of the front-facing brightness on the curved sides when viewed from the front.
The new WideView Display uses a redesigned organic light-emitting layer and display structure to provide more consistent brightness across both flat and curved sections.
Samsung Display said the technology could be applied to future foldable, sliderable, and rollable devices.
The company also showed a 20-inch Wide Stretchable Display, which combines two existing stretchable panels into a single screen. Samsung Display said it uses panel and module technologies to minimize the visible boundary between the two panels.
The larger stretchable display is being explored for applications such as automotive displays, humanoid robots, and digital signage.
Other displays include a 6.9-inch humanoid display with eye-tracking technology, a 6.4-inch Big Hole Display for vehicles, and a vertical slideable automotive display that expands from its compact form to 15.5 inches.
Samsung Display also showcased several OLED products for PCs and gaming, including a 31.5-inch 4K 360Hz QD-OLED monitor, a 34-inch 21:9 360Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor, and a 16-inch 2.5K OLED laptop display with a 300Hz refresh rate.
Samsung Display’s latest technologies are being presented as part of its broader research into displays for foldable devices, vehicles, AI-enabled products, and other next-generation applications.
