Samsung recently disclosed a fresh data breach that affected customers in the UK who made purchases from the Samsung online store between July 2019 and June 2020.
The breach, uncovered on November 13, resulted from a hacker exploiting a vulnerability in a third-party app used by Samsung.
Exposed data may include names, phone numbers, postal and email addresses, but Samsung clarified that sensitive information like passwords or financial details were not affected.
Samsung has taken measures to resolve the security breach and has notified the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
This is the third data breach Samsung has faced in the last two years. In earlier incidents, hackers accessed customer details and even stole confidential information like Galaxy smartphone source codes.
Is this vulnerability in Samsung’s security systems concerning for you as a consumer?
