Redmi is separating from the Xiaomi brand and will become a sub-brand similar to Huawei’s Honor and Oppo’s Realme. The first phones that will be launching under the Redmi banner are the Redmi 7 series (Pro, non-pro, and more variants) along with the 48MP camera in tow basing on the latest teaser of the company.

Sony’s IMX586 has been recently launched for mobile and one of the first phones to officially feature it is the Honor V20 (View 20) with a price tag of around $500 (P25,000+). However, Redmi is likely to offer the 48MP sensor too on its budget midrange lineup, probably on the Redmi 7 Pro.

There is also a possibility that Redmi will reserve the 48MP sensor for the top-end model of the Redmi 7 Pro.
