In addition to the realme 13 5G, realme has also launched the realme 13+ 5G.
It is an upgraded version of the 13 5G that features a better display, higher charging support, and better camera sensors.
But is this a better alternative for the Pro variants?
Taking a look at the realme 13+ 5G, the Dark Purple color variant has a nice finish. It features a subtle, ocean wave-like or marble design. However, I find this colorway more on the black side than the dark purple.
When I did the unboxing of this device I thought it had a black color variant. One of my favorite things about its design is that it is not prone to fingerprint smudges which is great thanks to its matte life finish.
Just like the 13 5G it also comes with a two-tone design that has a plain finish on top and a bottom side that has patterns on it. However, since it comes with a darker shade, you might not notice the design at first glance.
As for dimensions this device weighs in at 185g and has a thickness of 7.6mm. Even without the case it offers good grip and is comfortable to the hand.
Around the frame, the realme 13+ 5G has the power and volume buttons on the right side. At the bottom, you’ll find the microphone, speaker grille, USB Type-C port, and SIM tray slot. On the top, there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack, another speaker grille, and a microphone.
In terms of design, I prefer this compared to the realme 13 5G. I am a fan of dark-colored devices since they attract less attention and it looks simple.
Turning over the device, the realme 13+ 5G boasts a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and is paired with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Unlike the vanilla version, this model boasts a brighter display, reaching up to 2,000 nits which makes it a good smartphone for outdoor use and has support for HDR10+.
As for the performance of its display, we’ve been using this realme 13+ 5G for a week now and its display never disappointed me. It delivered an impressive performance with vibrant colors and decent viewing angles.
There is no noticeable color shift when viewed from a different angle which is great. You can also change your screen color mode via the display settings to make its display more appealing to your eyes.
Now that we’ve covered the design and display, let’s flip the realme 13+ 5G over again and talk about its cameras. The realme 13 + 5G sports a triple camera setup with a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main camera, 2MP depth, and an auxiliary lens. It also comes with a 16MP selfie shooter.
The performance of its rear cameras is great. The realme 13+ 5G captures impressive images with a natural tone and a good amount of detail. Results are sharp and it has a wide dynamic range. Colors are well portrayed making images with a colorful subject pop out. Although sometimes highlights are a bit blown out, however, it depends on the lighting situation.
Meanwhile, the 16MP selfie shooter captures a true-to-life skin tone with vibrant color reproduction. It also comes with an impressive amount of detail and sharpness making it a good phone for selfie photography.
As for its video recording, it can shoot up to 4K@30FPS without stabilization and 1080P@60FPS with stabilization. When it comes to selfie video, It can only shoot up to 1080P@30FPS with and without stabilization.
Compared to the vanilla variant this one delivers a better selfie camera which is great. Plus it comes with a better rear camera sensor.
Now for its performance, under the hood, it runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 energy that is then paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
When comparing it to the realme 13’s chipset, this device offers higher clock speeds and a more advanced GPU for improved graphics and processing power.
Using the realme 13+ 5G as a daily driver whether it’s for productivity, entertainment, or gaming this device delivers the expected performance. It handles all the tasks that we throw at it. It has great multitasking capabilities and impressive gaming performance.
Although with did encounter some minor lags and stutters when playing heavier games which is fine.
Here are some of its benchmark results.
When it comes to realme 13+ 5G’s battery and charging, the realme 13 + 5G is backed by a 5000mAh battery capacity which is then paired with an 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging.
During our video loop test, the realme 13 + 5G lasted us about 17 hours and 15 minutes.
As for charging, juicing it up from 0 to 100 % only took us around 44 minutes which is faster than the vanilla variant.
Lastly, for its price, the realme 13 + 5G is priced at PHP19,999 for the 12GB + 256GB configuration.
Overall, comparing it to the vanilla variant, the difference in overall performance is noticeable. It has a better display, better battery performance, and faster charging. And most importantly it has a better chip.
This is a solid device that is placed in the middle of the realme 13’s affordable price tag and the realme 13 Pro series that are much more expensive.
