lenovo k3 note k80 zenfone 2 xperia m4 aqua battery comparison (1 of 1)

Four Android smartphones with different screen brightness level, speaker volume and battery capacities, which do you think will last long in our actual, real battery test and comparison? Find out the answer below.

The Lenovo K80 has the most massive battery from the four with 4000mAh. Coming next is the Lenovo K3 Note and Asus Zenfone 2 with 3000mAh. Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua has the smallest capacity of 2400mAh, but it is not an issue given its smaller screen size and resolution.

Only the Lenovo K3 Note and Asus Zenfone 2 offer user-replaceable battery, the other two has integrated, non-removable battery.

The test is just simple, we played a 2-hour HD movie with max volume and brightness on each device while on airplane mode. We should take note that there speaker and display output are different. The Xperia M4 Aqua has the brightest screen while it has also the loudest speaker too along with the Asus Zenfone 2.

Battery capacity:

  1. Lenovo K80 – 4000mAH, non-removable
  2. Asus Zenfone 2 / Lenovo K3 Note – 3000mAh replaceable
  3. Sony Xperia M4 Aqua – 2400 – non-removable

Screen resolution and size:

  1. Lenovo K3 Note / Asus Zenfone 2 / Lenovo K80 – 5.5-inch with 1080p FHD IPS
  2. Sony Xperia M4 Aqua – 5.0-inch with 720p HD IPS

Brightness level:

  1. Sony Xperia M4 Aqua
  2. Lenovo K3 Note
  3. Asus Zenfone 2 / Lenovo K80

Speaker level:

  1. Sony Xperia M4 Aqua
  2. Asus Zenfone 2 / Lenovo K80
  3. Lenovo K3 Note

Results after 2-hour playback:

  1. Lenovo K80 – 79%
  2. Asus Zenfone 2 – 80%
  3. Lenovo K3 Note – 73%
  4. Sony Xperia M4 Aqua – 67%

Verdict: Battery life varies not only with video playback but with standby time, call time, screen output, etc.

We were surprised that Lenovo K80 was only 1% ahead over the Zenfone despite its larger battery capacity. Next after the Zenfone 2 was the Lenovo K3 Note with 73%. Coming last was the Xperia M4 Aqua with 67%. The M4 Aqua has the loudest speaker and brightest amongst the group.

The test was just focused on HD movie playback. Definitely, standby time, gaming and other areas will yield different results.

We will be publishing a more in-depth battery in near future. We are still working out some standard parameters we would use.
