Philippines to Lift Grok Ban Following Safety Pledge

Grok

The Philippines will restore access to Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok after its developer committed to removing image-manipulation tools that raised child safety concerns

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) said the Grok app informed authorities that it will no longer allow content manipulation.

CICC stated that even after lifting the ban, the agency will still closely monitor the app to ensure they comply with the rules and regulations in the Philippines.

The ban was imposed last week following complaints that Grok could generate sexualized images, including content posing risks to children. Officials cited violations of the Anti-Child Pornography Act.

Grok, which is integrated with the social media platform X, had previously allowed users to manipulate photos of people, including women and minors, to create explicit images. The Philippines became the third country to block the AI tool, after Malaysia and Indonesia.

Authorities said access will be reinstated once Grok complies with government standards, and CICC confirmed ongoing monitoring to prevent future violations.
