An offer from Sweden to aid in the EDSA Busway project was relayed to the Philippines during a courtesy call between DoTr Secretary Jaime Bautista and Swedish Ambassador Her Excellency Annika Thunborg.
The EDSA Carousel route offers free bus rides until the end of the year for those who don’t know. The program titled “Libreng Sakay” was created to revitalize the economy by making transportation easier for citizens.
However, FREE does not guarantee it will be of high quality. Sweden has been offered to streamline and enhance the EDSA Busway operations. In keeping with DoTr’s goal, local public transportation needs to be improved to compete with world-class transport. Mega Manila Consortium Corporation and ES Transport are partnering with the government as part of this project.
To provide “accessible, affordable, comfortable, and safe transportation throughout the country,” the current administration has accepted this offer. Improvements have been made continuously, including constructing dedicated busways and analyzing user traffic and choke points.
As a result, commuters can expect fewer lines during rush hour and less hassle for commuters. Because of car-centric urban planning, automobiles are such a big deal in the Metro that traffic may be decongested.
