What’s Inside the Box?
Just like any other OPPO smartphone box, you will get a neat white box that has OPPO written on the side of it. When you open it, the first thing that you will see is the 6.23-inch smartphone. Next is a packet containing user guides, sim ejector pin, and a case. Then, the headphones, USB adapter, and the charging cable.
Design
What we have here is the stunning red variant of the newest OPPO F7. We have reviewed the rest of OPPO’s F-series smartphones and this one literally looks and feels different from its predecessors. We’re used to seeing the metal back panel when it comes to F-series smartphones from OPPO, but this time, they ditched that idea and switched to an all-plastic body. Also, the OPPO F7 is so light that it kinda loses the premium feel, but it looks classy and elegant in our opinion, especially this Solar Red variant.
At the back portion of the phone are the fingerprint scanner and camera. As always, the OPPO is written at the back below the fingerprint scanner. Now, at the bottom bunk of the phones are the speakers, headphone jack, and the micro USB 2.0 port.
The power button, volume rockers, and the SIM trays are located at the sides of the smartphone. And btw, it can hold two Nano-SIMs and a microSD card.
Display
The OPPO F7 features a 6.23-inch in-cell IPS display with a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels, and Gorilla Glass 5. Same with almost every new smartphone this year, this new Selfie-centric OPPO phone comes with the notch. The company used the notch to place the selfie camera, earpiece, and some sensors. The notch can be irritating for some especially if you’re easily annoyed with unbalanced things like this, but you’ll get used to it eventually. Just like we did, but if it’d be awesome if OPPO didn’t hop into the iPhone X-like notch train.
Other Features
The newest addition to the F series carries the same chipset as the OPPO R15, which is the MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core SoC. It runs on Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box with Oppo’s ColorOS 5.0 UI. We’re testing the 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage model, but the F7 will also have a 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage model. It is fueled by a 3400mAh battery pack.
For the security, it comes with both fingerprint scanner and face unlock. Both security options work swiftly on our side. We also didn’t encounter any problems swiping up and down on the display of the F7 as well.
The notification bar at the top also serves tons of useful features and shortcuts such as OPPO Share, Night mode button, Google Now, Screen Recorder, and more. Users can also easily adjust the volume of the ringtone, alarm, and alarm by clicking the drop-down option at the right side of the volume adjustment. Taking screenshots is also easy with just a three-finger swipe down.
It also has this cool feature called Do-Not-Disturb Gaming which lets the user answer calls even when in game.
Cameras
In the camera department, it features Smart AI recognition that is present on the massive 25MP front camera. There’s also a feature called a Vivid Mode wherein the front camera can shoot natural-looking selfie shots against color production for the outfits and background. It also has AR stickers and AI album.
On the rear part of the phone is the 16-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 aperture. Just like Huawei flagship phone Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, the OPPO F7 can enhance shots by identifying 16 different scenes and objects such as grass, indoor, sky, food, snow, sunset, and more.
Here are some sample shots:
With its specs, features, it is surely one of the big contenders for its price range. That’s it for the hands-on, stay tuned for our review and some comparisons.
