HONOR 200 Pro Review

Following the global unveiling of the HONOR 200 series in Paris, we got our hands on one of their standout devices, the HONOR 200 Pro! Are you as excited as we are? Let’s dive in and see if this device truly delivers with its promising features and flagship-level specs, shall we?

Design & Build

The HONOR 200 Pro stands out with its striking design that effortlessly distinguishes it from its competitors. Despite its prominent camera module, the device maintains a harmonious balance in appearance. It’s also equipped with an IP65 rating, a notable feature at this price range.

Over the past month, we’ve seen numerous aesthetically pleasing devices, and the HONOR 200 Pro is no exception. Its back panel features a unique dual-texture design, combining a soft, glossy finish on one side with a matte-like texture on the other. This variation doesn’t compromise grip, ensuring a comfortable hold.

The panel showcases an elegant wave-like pattern that enhances its visual appeal from a distance. While the majority of the back resists fingerprint smudges, it can feel slightly slippery, prompting the use of the included case for added security. Despite weighing 199g, its slim profile creates an impression of lightness.

Display

When it comes to the display, the HONOR 200 Pro shines with a 6.78 inches AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and a peak brightness of 4000 nits.

Although a higher resolution would be ideal, the display quality is impressive, offering vibrant colors whether indoors or outdoors.

The thin bezels and less aggressive curvature of the edges enhance the viewing experience. The pill-shaped cutout at the top center houses the selfie camera, adding to the sleek design.

Cameras

Speaking of cameras, the HONOR 200 Pro features a triple camera setup with a 50MP OIS main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The dual front cameras include a 50MP selfie shooter and a 2MP depth sensor.

In terms of quality, the rear cameras excel in daylight, producing detailed and sharp images with a good dynamic range. Colors are vibrant and well-saturated.

By default, HDR is on, and you can choose from three color filters: vibrant, natural, and authentic. Here are some side-by-side comparisons.

What sets the HONOR 200 Pro’s cameras apart is its portrait mode. The Harcourt portrait filter replaces the HDR mode, delivering even more impressive results. Although quality-wise it outputs much more impressive results.

For selfies, the 50MP front camera captures detailed and true-to-life images with a wide dynamic range. Here are some sample shots.

Moving on to video recording, the rear camera can shoot videos up to 4K@60FPS with a 21:9 aspect ratio, while the front camera supports up to 4K@30FPS.

For a sub-flagship device, the HONOR 200 Pro’s cameras deliver exceptional portraits, rivaling higher-priced devices even without higher MP counts.

Performance

Under the hood, the HONOR 200 Pro boasts a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset paired with 12GB of RAM (plus 12GB of HONOR RAM Turbo) and a spacious 512GB of storage.

Running on Android 14 with MagicOS 8.0, it seamlessly integrates with the Google Play Store for access to all your essential apps. HONOR guarantees 4 major OS updates and up to 5 years of security patches, ensuring it remains future-ready.

Performance-wise, the HONOR 200 Pro excels in everyday tasks, whether you’re multitasking for productivity or diving into multimedia. Even during extended gaming sessions, we encountered no heating issues.

Here are some impressive benchmark results:

Battery

The device is backed by a 5200mAh battery, supporting 100W fast charging and 66W wireless charging.

In our video loop test, it lasted about 16 hours and 48 minutes. Charging with the 100W fast charger took around 45 minutes to reach 100%, which is slightly longer than that of other devices with similar charging speeds, typically around 30-35 minutes.

Price

Lastly, let’s talk about the price! The HONOR 200 Pro, which we reviewed in this article, is priced at PHP 29,999. But if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, you can opt for the HONOR 200 for only PHP 24,999.

And now, drum roll please! If you purchase the HONOR 200 from July 17 to July 26, 2024, you can get a free pair of JBL Soundgear Frames worth PHP 9,499!

Overall, the HONOR 200 Pro is an impressive device with a unique design and a host of features. It offers top-notch performance, though the charging speed could be improved. Although it did have a slower charging speed than other devices with the same 100W charging.

All in all, the HONOR 200 Pro is a solid sub-flagship device, designed to deliver outstanding camera performance that can challenge higher-priced competitors.
