Smart Communications has introduced PureVoice, an AI-powered noise cancellation service initially available to Smart Infinity members in the Philippines.
The service reduces background noise during phone calls, including sounds from traffic, crowds, and music, to make conversations clearer. It also works on smartphones without built-in noise cancellation.
PureVoice does not require an app installation or additional setup. Users can simply dial 8# during an ongoing call to turn the feature on or off.
Smart said it plans to make PureVoice available to more subscribers in the coming months.
According to Smart, the service builds on its efforts to improve voice call quality through network upgrades and AI technology.
The company previously completed its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) rollout in 2020, allowing subscribers to make high-quality voice calls while continuing to use mobile data. It also supports Video over LTE (ViLTE), which lets users make video calls through their phone’s dialer without third-party apps.
Smart also reported zero dropped calls in the latest National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) quality-of-service tests conducted in Metro Manila.
