Alongside the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4, the brand also officially launches its first-ever flip foldable smartphone in China, the Xiaomi MIX Flip. Both smartphones are part of the Xiaomi’s new MIX lineup.
The Xiaomi MIX Flip is a clamshell-type foldable smartphone that sports a 6.86-inch TCL C8+ 1.5K 1-120Hz AMOLED inner screen with 3000nits peak brightness and a 4-inch 1.5K TCL C8+ 120Hz AMOLED outer screen with also 3000nits peak brightness and a quad-curve design.
The company stated that the outer display interaction has been revamped to operate as a fully functional “compact phone” without needing to open the device. Its outer display now includes extensive display gestures and notification/control center swipe-down functionality. It supports auto-rotation, making it convenient for both left- and right-handed users, and includes a full-display keyboard.
Meanwhile, the middle frame is made from the same 6M42 aluminum alloy used in the MIX Fold 4, and both the outer and inner displays are protected by Xiaomi Shield Glass and UTG ultra-thin flexible glass. The compact dual-link hinge features an internal mechanism built with high-strength, wear-resistant materials, similar to those in the MIX Fold 4, and has a folding and unfolding lifespan of 500,000 cycles, as certified by SGS reliable folding certification. Additionally, there is a special Xiaomi Nylon Fiber edition, crafted from meticulously woven nylon fiber, known for its outstanding abrasion and stain resistance.

Powering the MIX Flip is Qualcomm’s 3.3GHz 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 octa-core processor with Adreno 750 GPU, up to 16GB LPPDDR5X RAM, and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.
For heat dissipation, the device incorporates a newly designed 3D cooling system with a large 3500mm² VC area. This “staircase” design efficiently dissipates heat from the SoC. Xiaomi has also incorporated its SU7 “aerogel” thermal insulation material near the inner display side of the “staircase” structure, which effectively prevents heat transfer to the display, enhancing the user experience when touching the screen, according to Xiaomi.
Battery is rated at 4780mAh capacity with 67W fast charging which features Xiaomi’s Surge battery technology with a 6% silicon content in the negative electrode. The company claims it can retain at least 80% capacity even after 1600 cycles.
Meanwhile, in terms of camera, the brand collaborated with Leica and also has a Leica Summilux lenses for the 50MP Light Fusion 800 main sensor. It is accompanied by a 50MP 47mm 3x Leica floating telephoto lens with a 9cm minimum focusing distance.

The Xiaomi MIX Flip is now available for pre-order in China and will go on sale starting July 23, 2024.
