Report: Apple will turn Siri into a chatbot

Reports have surfaced online that Apple will introduce a chatbot-style version of Siri in its next major software update.

This report follows the confirmation that Google’s Gemini will power the upcoming Siri revamp. According to Bloomberg, Apple is developing a new Siri chatbot, internally dubbed Campos, which will replace the current Siri when iOS 27, macOS 27, and iPadOS 27 are released.

The report claims that it will function as a standalone app built into Apple devices and will support natural language conversations similar to ChatGPT and Gemini. By saying the “Siri” wake word or by holding the side button on the iPhone and iPad, the AI can be invoked.

Moreover, the report also states that the AI chatbot will be powered by a custom model based on Google’s Gemini. The chatbot will reportedly be able to conduct web searches, respond to inquiries, create images, summarize text, analyze uploaded documents and on-screen content, manage device settings, and use personal data for specific tasks.

The AI chatbot will also be deeply integrated across Apple’s apps, enabling it to access in-app content and perform actions. It is said to support both voice and text-based interactions, but it might not have the persistent memory capabilities of some competing chatbots.

Apple is expected to reveal the new Siri chatbot at WWDC 2026, according to Bloomberg.
