The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has clarified that the extension granted under its 24-hour directive applies only to Reddit and does not cover Discord.
Previously, the CICC gave Reddit and Discord 24 hours to designate local representatives and submit plans for online safety, rapid response, and age verification.
Reddit was granted an extension after meeting with the CICC and discussing child safety commitments. Discord also reached out to the agency, but no extension has been granted as of September 23.
The CICC is also examining Discord over extremist communities linked to the radicalization and recruitment of minors.
Meanwhile, an access-block notice is also being displayed to Globe users attempting to access the website.
The notice states that access has been blocked in accordance with a directive from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), as determined and identified by relevant government agencies.
Earlier, the CICC warned that failure or refusal to comply with its directive could lead to actions, in coordination with other Philippine authorities, that may restrict the platforms’ operations or access in the Philippines.
