Alienware Area-51 gaming laptops unveiled

Alienware has unveiled its latest gaming laptops at CES 2026, the Area-51 16-inch and 18-inch models. The Alienware 16X Aurora also tags along.

The new Area-51 gaming laptops are the top-tier models that use Alienware’s new Alienware 30 design and have an anodized aluminum chassis in Liquid Teal.

The 16-inch model sports a 16-inch WQXGA OLED panel with 2560 x 1600 resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, 0.2ms response time, 120 percent DCI-P3 color volume, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, ClearMR 9000 rating, and up to 620 nits of HDR peak brightness. It also supports anti-glare coating, NVIDIA G-SYNC, ComfortView Plus, and Advanced Optimus.

On the other hand, the 18-inch model flaunts a larger 18-inch WQXGA LCD screen with a 300Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage, 500 nits of brightness, and NVIDIA G-SYNC with Advanced Optimus.

Both models come with a new Cryo-Chamber thermal system, boasting up to 35 percent more airflow and 15 percent less fan noise compared to the previous generation. They are equipped with Intel Core Ultra 200HX processors. GPU options include the RTX 5070 Ti with 12GB GDDR7, RTX 5080 with 16GB GDDR7, and RTX 5090 with 24GB GDDR7. Models with RTX 5070 Ti GPUs and higher get vapor chamber cooling.

Moreover, both laptops support up to 64GB DDR5 memory with XMP support on select models and up to 12TB storage using RAID 0. The 16-inch model handles up to 240W of gaming power, while the 18-inch variant handles up to 280W.

The Area-51 18-inch model has a full-size SD card slot, Thunderbolt 5 support depending on GPU, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, a 96Whr battery with a 360W GaN adapter, and a 4.34kg maximum weight.

Aside from the Area-51 gaming laptops, Alienware also introduced the Alienware 16X Aurora. It is a high-end gaming laptop in a more portable form, weighing 2.66kg and is 19.2mm thick at the front.

The laptop features a 16-inch WQXGA anti-glare OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.2ms response time. It is powered by CPUs from Intel Core Ultra 5 235HX to the Core Ultra 9 275HX, depending on the model. GPU options include the RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 with up to 130W Dynamic Boost.

Other features include up to 64GB DDR5 memory, dual NVMe SSDs with RAID 0, Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, and a 90Wh battery.

The Alienware 16X Aurora, Alienware 16 Area-51, and Alienware 18 Area-51 will be available globally in Q1 2026. Pricing details will be revealed as the launch nears.
