Xiaomi has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone in China, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, alongside a 17 Ultra Leica Edition with a unique design and a mechanical zoom ring.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra boasts a camera system in collaboration with legendary German camera brand Leica capable of recording 8K video, consisting of a 50MP 1-inch size Light Fusion 1050L main sensor with Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor (LOFIC), a 50MP ISOCELL JN5 ultrawide shooter, and a 200MP 1/1.4-inch APO 75-100mm periscope telephoto lens with continuous zoom from 3x to 4.3x.
At the front, it sports a 6.9-inch M10 AMOLED LTPO panel with 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, 2608 x 1200-pixel resolution, up to 3500nits peak brightness, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 1920Hz PWM Dimming, DC Dimming, and Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0 protection. There’s also a 50MP selfie camera.
Powering it inside is the 3nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 octa-core processor with Adreno 840 GPU, paired with up to 16GB LPPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 internal storage. A 6,800mAh silicon-carbon battery is also packed inside with support for 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, along with 22.5W wired reverse charging.
Handling the temperature is Xiaomi’s 3D Dual-Channel IceLoop System and a new capillary structure, with a substantial improvement in thermal conductivity compared to the previous generation.
In terms of design, it is the first model in the Ultra line to feature a flat display and the thinnest Ultra model Xiaomi has ever released, with an 8.29mm thickness. It also incorporates a micro-curved aluminum alloy frame, reduced camera deco diameter, and higher camera module placement. Available colors include White, Black, Purple, and Green.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica
In addition to the standard variant, Xiaomi also announced the Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica. The Leica Edition retains the specs of the standard variant but offers some extra features and a new design. Its body features a dual-tone design in textured leather and matte finish, a “LEICA CAMERA GERMANY” engraved in the knurled middle frame, and a Leica red dot badge at the top-left part.
A physical ring (Master Zoom Ring) is incorporated with 20 high-strength ball bearings and an internal optical displacement sensor with 0.03mm precision, allowing smooth and intuitive focus adjustments. It also has ISO (light sensitivity), MF (Manual Focus), EV (Exposure Value), and WB (White Balance).
The Leica Edition model also comes with special Leica Moment modes in a 3:2 aspect ratio, a security and encryption chip that digitally signs photos and verifies their origin, and supports a dual-satellite system (Tiantong and Beidou) for communication in remote areas.
The device comes in an exclusive gift box containing a magnetic protective case, lens cap, hanging rope, and cleaning cloth.

Both models of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be available in China starting December 27th.
