Snapdragon Wear Elite for Smartwatch Announced

Snapdragon Wear Elite

Qualcomm has introduced a new wearable processor called the Snapdragon Wear Elite, built on a 3nm process.

The Snapdragon Wear Elite features a CPU clocked at up to 2.1GHz along with an Adreno GPU.

According to Qualcomm, the chip delivers up to five times better single-core CPU performance and seven times faster graphics compared to previous wearable platforms.

It also includes a dedicated Hexagon Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of up to 12 TOPS of AI performance. This allows supported devices to run large language models with up to two billion parameters directly on the watch, without relying on cloud processing.

Qualcomm says the platform can deliver up to 30% longer battery life and can reach 50% battery in under 10 minutes.

The chip introduces what Qualcomm calls a “hexa-connectivity” system. This includes 5G RedCap, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0, and satellite NB-NTN support for emergency or remote communication.

The Snapdragon Wear Elite supports multiple operating systems, including Wear OS, Android, and Linux-based platforms. It can connect to more than 50 sensors for health tracking and contextual awareness features.

Snapdragon Wear Elite Availability

Availability details for devices powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite have not yet been announced.
