After its suspension warning from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), Roblox has been placed under strict monitoring.
The strict monitoring comes with a 30-day period to address alleged illegal activities on its platform.
According to their post shared on CICC’s official Facebook page, Roblox “has become a hunting ground” for child exploitation and illegal drug activities.
The CICC said some users are being targeted through in-game interactions and may be exposed to harmful or manipulative content.
CICC Undersecretary Renato Paraiso said that if Roblox fails to coordinate with authorities within the deadline, the government may move to block access to the platform nationwide.
Proposed measures include instructing local internet providers to restrict access to Roblox servers and coordinating with Google and Apple to remove the app from their stores in the country through geo-fencing.
While the review is ongoing, authorities are advising parents to monitor their children’s online activity.
The agency warned against common risks such as strangers requesting personal information, moving conversations outside the platform, or offering in-game currency in exchange for tasks.
