NASA’s Aircraft to Study Air Molecules and Help Fight Climate Change in the Philippines

 

A sleek white airplane cruising the skies over Metro Manila will be seen soon. What is it? It’s actually a high-tech flying lab from NASA on a cool mission to check out our air quality!

Loaded with 26 fancy tools, this DC-8 plane will glide low over Metro Manila, Cebu, and other spots from Feb 11 to 15. Picture it just 50 feet above, like it’s landing, but don’t stress, it won’t touch down.

nasas DC 8Why? Well, it’s here to study air molecules and help fight climate change across the Philippines and Asia. That’s a good news, right?

Joining the cool crew are experts from the Philippines’ environment department, along with buddies from the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), Manila Observatory (MO), Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), and the University of the Philippines (UP).

After its Philippine adventure, this flying lab is set to jet off to South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand. Talk about racking up frequent flyer miles for a good cause! What do you think it might find?
