
Samsung Electronics has announced the development of UFS 5.0.
The new UFS 5.0 offers read speeds of up to 10.8 GB/s and write speeds of up to 9.5 GB/s, making it more than twice as fast as the previous UFS 4.1 standard.
Samsung also said UFS 5.0 is over 40% more power-efficient than its previous version.

The new storage chip is also smaller than its predecessor, allowing manufacturers to save space inside devices such as smartphones, smartwatches, and extended reality (XR) headsets.
Samsung plans to begin mass production of UFS 5.0 in the fourth quarter of 2026, with storage capacities of up to 1 terabyte (TB).
The technology is expected to be used in future flagship smartphones, AI-powered wearables, anXR devices.
