Sony Announces Price Hike for PS5 consoles

Sony has announced new price changes for its PlayStation 5 consoles, which will take effect starting on April 2, 2026.

According to Sony, one of the main reasons for the price hike is the “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” The rising costs of components such as memory chips also contributed to the price changes.

“We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide,” said Isabelle Tomatis, Sony’s vice president of global marketing.

In the United States, the PS5 disc version will jump from $549.99 to $649.99, while the PS5 Digital Edition will increase to $599.99. The high-end PS5 Pro will see the biggest hit, with the price increasing to $899.99.
