MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 8500, a new chipset.
The Dimensity 8500 is built on a 4nm process and uses an all-big-core CPU design with eight Arm Cortex-A725 cores, clocked up to 3.4GHz.
MediaTek says this setup improves both performance and power efficiency compared to the previous generation.
For graphics, the chip integrates a Mali-G720 GPU. MediaTek claims up to 25% higher peak performance and 20% lower power consumption versus its predecessor.
The chipset supports ray tracing in mainstream mobile games and is designed to deliver stable frame rates, faster loading times, and lower energy use during gameplay.
On the AI side, the Dimensity 8500 features MediaTek’s 8th-generation NPU.
It supports large language models (LLM and MLLM), image generation, AI ultra-clear telephoto processing, and a semantic AI engine that optimizes image frames in real time.
The Dimensity 8500 also supports LPDDR5X memory with speeds up to 9600Mbps, enabling smoother multitasking and improved overall system responsiveness.
MediaTek positions the Dimensity 8500 for premium smartphones that prioritize gaming performance, AI features, and power efficiency.
