Android Makes Password Transfers Easier

Google has added a new Android feature that allows users to transfer passwords and passkeys between password managers without downloading a file.

The transfer process works as follows:

  • Open the new password manager
  • Select the option to import or copy passwords and passkeys from another provider
  • Android will detect compatible password managers installed on the device and show the available options.
  • Tap “Continue” to open the existing password manager
  • Select and review the data before approving the transfer.

The data will then be transferred between the two apps.

The feature is currently available on Google Password Manager, 1Password, Bitwarden Password Manager, and Dashlane. More password managers are expected to support the feature.
