Together with trio of new Lumia smartphones running Windows 10 Mobile OS and all-new Surface Pro 4, perhaps the new Microsoft Surface Book is the main attraction of the MS event in New York yesterday. Surface Book is the first product of Microsoft in laptop form and works as tablet as well.
The Surface Book is not just like a Surface Pro that could replace your ordinary laptop. Surface Book is a true Windows 10 hybrid that is twice as powerful as Apple’s 12-inch MacBook Pro according to Panos Panay of Microsoft.
One of the features that sets the Surface Book from SP is the larger 13.5-inch PixelSense display with a resolution of 3000×2000 pixels which equates to 6 million pixels or 267ppi. A 0.4mm thick Gorilla Glass 4 panel also sits on top of it. Both Surface Book and Pro support the new Pen with eraser and as well multitouch function.

Inside the tablet is latest Intel 6th gen chipset with Core i5 or Core i7 processor. The CPU is paired with 8GB or 16GB RAM and 128GB SSD base model with a max of 1TB storage option. There is also a dual camera setup, an 8MP on rear and 5MP on the back.
The base keyboard is what really excites me as it packs a Nvidia graphics card, some battery juice, 1.6mm travel and back-lit keys, 5-point touch glass trackpad and set of ports.
Detaching Surface Book from the keyboard is just a click away. The Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge design ensures flexible and solid grip on the Surface Book.
The Surface Book will be powered by Windows 10 Pro similar to SP4 with Windows Hello face and iris recognition and full suite of Office 2016.
Microsoft has started accepting pre-orders of the SB in USA today. Retail price is $1500 for the Core i5 base model with no discrete Nvidia GPU card and 128GB model. Magnetic Surface Pen is included on the package.
