
According to mobile network analytics firm OpenSignal, Metro Manila’s 5G download speeds are the fourth slowest in eleven Asia Pacific cities and the second sluggish in upload speeds.
Manila was ranked eighth with 150.7 Mbps in average download speed. The first-placed city, Seoul, Korea, averaged 453.1 Mbps, while the second-placed town, Kuala Lumpur, recorded 376.6 Mbps.
When it comes to uploading speeds, it gets worse. Despite its poor performance, Metro Manila only averages 14.4mbps, making it the tenth poorest in the world. A ranking of 52.8 Mbps was achieved by Kuala Lumpur, while Seoul attained a scale of 40.6 Mbps.
According to the survey, Metro Manila ranked worst in 5G gaming experience, scoring 66.6. In comparison, Seoul ranked first with a score of 87.2.
Metro Manila ranks eighth with a score of 71 in video streaming, while Taipei ranks first with 81.3.
However, the Philippines has the second highest uplift over 4G. According to reports, Metro Manila’s 5G download speeds are 7.3 times faster than 4G. The country is just a few miles from Kuala Lumpur. At the same time, Metro Manila stands seventh in terms of 5G availability.
