Last year, MediaTek teased a new chipset Dimensity 8000 processor, which is said to have a 5nm architecture. According to the leaks from Digital Chat Station, it will be known as Dimensity 8100 instead.
The Dimensity 8100 will feature an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A78 performance cores running at 2.75 GHz. The GPU will be the Mali-G510, which was developed by Arm, has yet to appear in any SoC. It will be a mid-range chip that will be an affordable alternative to the Mediatek 9000.
Meanwhile, the AnTuTu benchmark score of the MediaTek Dimensity 8000 has surpassed that of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870, implying that the Dimensity 8100 will have an even higher score.
There will be a new device powered by this chip that is expected to launch next month, so we expect to see its performance inside the phone. More devices will be powered by the chip in the near future, and if it performs well, it could be the midrange chipset of the year just like the MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G last year.
