MediaTek has officially introduced the Dimensity 6400, a new mid-range processor. Let’s see what’s new!
The new Dimensity 6400 is built on TSMC’s 6nm process.
It features two Cortex-A76 cores, now clocked at 2.5GHz instead of 2.4GHz, and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0GHz. While this small clock speed increase may offer minor performance gains, overall improvements are expected to be minimal.
For graphics, the chipset still uses the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, which is suited for casual gaming and media consumption. Display support includes resolutions up to 2520 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
For the multimedia department, the chipset supports up to 108MP single-camera sensors and 16MP + 16MP dual-camera setups.
For memory and storage, the Dimensity 6400 supports LPDDR4x RAM at up to 2133MHz and UFS 2.2 storage, keeping it in line with most mid-range SoCs.
The Dimensity 6400 includes SA and NSA 5G support, offering peak download speeds of 3.3Gbps. It also features 5G carrier aggregation and dual VoNR for improved connectivity. However, it only supports Wi-Fi 5 instead of the newer Wi-Fi 6.
According to reports, the first smartphone to feature this chipset is the realme P3x 5G, launching in India on February 18.
