Bezel-less smartphones are starting to dominate the smartphone industry scene nowadays. Due to this, smartphone manufacturers keep innovating their products to create a completely full-screen smartphone.

One of the solutions is a motorized camera which was started by Vivo when they released their Vivo NEX and NEX S. However, it was surpassed when OPPO released the OPPO Find X with the same concept but with a bigger camera and a larger screen.

2018 seems to be the year for all-screen smartphones so we’re expecting that more and more devices will be following the same concept. We can’t wait to add them on our list of bezel-less smartphones.

OPPO Find X

93.8% screen-to-body ratio

The OPPO Find X just recently released and may be the hottest bezel-less smartphone in the market right now with a large 93.8% screen-to-body ratio. To achieve this screen size, they had to ditch the camera on the screen and replace it with a motorized camera.

It comes with a 6.42-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Furthermore, the device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It has a dimension measurement of 156.7 x 74.2 x 9.6 mm.

The OPPO Find X is priced at €999 (approx. PHP 61,740).

Vivo NEX and Vivo NEX S

91.24% screen-to-body ratio

This smartphone was the first to introduce the motorized camera. The Vivo NEX series is also a bezel-less smartphone that achieves the 91.24% screen-to-body ratio. The Vivo NEX and NEX S come with a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2316 pixels.

The Vivo NEX and NEX S is priced at:

  • Vivo NEX = CNY 3,898 (approx. PHP 32,137)
  • Vivo NEX S =
    • 128GB – CNY 4,498 (approx. PHP 37,232)
    • 256GB – CNY 4,998 (approx. PHP 41,371)

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S

 80.8% and 81.9% screen-to-body ratio

Xiaomi’s solution to create a bezel-less smartphone is through placing the front-facing camera at the bottom. It seemed to be annoying at first because you have to flip the phone to take a selfie. This means that it might not look good at taking selfies with apps such as Instagram and Snapchat.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and Mi Mix 2S comes with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Both are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 and Mi MIX 2S is priced at:

  • Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 = PHP 19,990
  • Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S =
    • 64GB – PHP 27,990
    • 128GB – PHP 29,990

Special Mention(s):

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus

83.6% and 84.2% screen-to-body ratio

These ‘Infinity Display’ smartphones might be one of the earliest to introduce an almost bezel-less smartphone because there are still a thin bezel at the top and bottom though it isn’t that noticeable. In order to achieve this full-screen smartphone, Samsung had to ditch the home button as well.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 ratio. Meanwhile the older sibling, Galaxy S9+ comes with a larger 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 2960 and an aspect ratio of 6.2-inch. Both are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The two smartphones are currently available in the Philippines at the price of:

  • Samsung Galaxy S9 = PHP 38,990
  • Samsung Galaxy S9+ =
    • 128GB – PHP 55,990
    • 256GB – PHP 60,990

NOTE: We’ll make sure to update this list when another full-screen smartphone appears.

  1. More and more companies are trying to increase screen-to-body ratio and even they are now ruing ports and holes, you can take the example of Meizu Zero which is the first phone with no holes and ports. Moreover, Vivo Nex Dual Edition is a great entry in market with two displays.
