Back in July, LG introduced a smaller and more affordable version of the LG V20 – the LG Q8. South Korea today, the handset goes on sale for KRW 616,000 or roughly Php 28,000.
Just like the V20, the Q8 is also a QHD resolution, but in a smaller 5.2″ IPS LCD display which equates to a pixel density of 554ppi with a protective Corning Gorilla Glass 4. There’s also that always-on secondary display on the upper right portion of the screen.
The LG Q8 is a fully capable device thanks to its Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 2TB via microSD. On the back, you’ll see a dual-camera setup with 13MP f/1.8 and 8MP f/2.4 aperture lenses, and an f/1.9 aperture selfie camera up front.
Powered by a slightly smaller 3,00mAh battery (vs the V20’s 3200mAh), it runs on Android Nougat 7.0 with LG UX 5.0 on top. Other features include Hi-Fi Quad DAC audio, fingerprint scanner, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and Wi-Fi802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, NFC, Bluetooth v4.2, and USB Type-C for connectivity.
Where the LG Q8 beats the V20 is with its IP67 rating which can go under 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. And like most of LG’s high-end smartphones, the Q8 also has an IR blaster which is a pretty nice feat.
The Q8 comes in two color options: Titan and Pink and will be available in key European markets starting this week followed by markets in Asia next month.
