As we shared last June 2025, DOTr has announced that LRT and MRT passengers will soon be able to pay using debit cards, credit cards, and mobile wallets like GCash and Maya.
Starting July 25, commuters can now pay their fares using GCash or any EMV (Europay, Mastercard and Visa) debit and credit card, including the GCash Visa card.

Additionally, Maya has introduced support for tap-to-pay transactions at all MRT-3 stations. Commuters may now use the Maya Wallet Card, the Maya Black Credit Card, and the Landers Cashback Everywhere Credit Card.
All MRT-3 stations are now equipped with a GCash-powered tap-to-pay turnstile. The system is expected to expand soon, with plans to extend the service to LRT-1 and LRT-2 according to Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.

With Filipinos increasingly embracing cashless transactions in recent years, this development is expected to benefit millions of daily commuters, providing a faster and more seamless travel experience. Have you tried it yet?
