Sony has launched the FE 100-400mm F5.6-8 OSS, a super-telephoto zoom lens designed for full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras.
The lens covers a 100-400mm focal range while weighing approximately 654 grams.
The lens uses two ED glass elements and two aspherical elements to reduce chromatic and other aberrations across the zoom range. It also features a nine-blade circular aperture for smoother bokeh.

For close-up shots, the lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.86 meters at 400mm and 1.13 meters at 100mm, with a maximum magnification of 0.41x.
Autofocus is handled by a linear motor drive. When paired with the Sony α9 III, the lens supports continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking at up to approximately 120 frames per second, based on Sony’s test conditions.
The lens also includes a customizable focus hold button, focus mode and range switches, and a zoom lock switch. It has a dust- and moisture-resistant design for outdoor shooting.
With Sony’s optional 2x Teleconverter (SEL20TC), the lens can reach up to 800mm, or up to 1,200mm when used in APS-C mode.

Pricing and availability may vary by country. In the Philippines, Sony has listed the FE 100-400mm F5.6-8 OSS as “Available soon.”
