A new Infinix prototype gaming phone has been seen in the hands of pro players at recent esports events.
The unbranded device is believed to be a concept model from Infinix’s GT series, featuring an advanced back panel that changes appearance based on what the phone is doing.
This prototype is apparently being used to test out new technology Infinix is developing for gaming phones.
One of the first people to try the phone was Nureddy Nursal, known as Daddyhood, a key figure in Malaysia’s esports scene. He praised the device for showing what the future of gaming phones might look like and how it could boost the experience for both pro players and fans.
The unnamed device houses a special material called electrochromic film, which reacts to electricity to change its appearance. This is similar to the technology used in airplane windows and fancy car sunroofs.
Here’s how it works:
- Normal Mode: The back panel looks matte black.
- When Activated: The material shifts to show colors, textures, or animations
- Based on Phone Use: The changes are linked to what the phone is doing, like receiving calls, launching games, or using the camera.
