When discussing its design, the Huawei Pura 70 Pro exudes cleanliness and aesthetic appeal. It boasts a robust, compact build that feels comfortable in the hand. Despite the sizable camera module, the overall design remains visually pleasing.
Sporting a glass back with smoothly curved edges, the device carries a weight of 220g, offering a substantial feel. The back panel features a matte finish, while the camera module adds a glossy touch, providing a subtle accent.
However, the protruding camera module might pose discomfort when laying the device flat. Inspired by the Penrose triangle, also known as the Penrose tribar, Huawei suggests that the design symbolizes the spirit of Huawei Pura and their relentless pursuit of innovation.
While the camera module impresses with its design, its performance remains to be seen. Having used the device for a week, we found it to be manageable despite its weight.
Turning over the device reveals an LTPO Panel with a resolution of 2844×1260. This panel is complemented by a 120Hz refresh rate, and being an LTPO OLED panel, it can scale down to as low as 1Hz for enhanced battery efficiency.
With a remarkable peak brightness of 2500nits, outdoor usage poses no challenge. The display quality is on par with flagship standards, offering vivid colors and decent sharpness.
Regarding its camera capabilities, the Huawei Pura 70 Pro features a triple camera setup comprising a 50MP OIS main shooter, a 48MP telephoto lens, and a 12.5MP ultrawide lens. Additionally, it boasts a 13MP selfie camera on the front.

The camera quality of the Pura 70 Pro represents a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the P60. It excels in color distribution, offering impressive details and a wide dynamic range.
Even in indoor settings, photos exhibit deep blacks with commendable sharpness.
The device supports image capture up to 100x zoom, although for optimal quality, it’s recommended to stick to 10x zoom.
Low-light photography is another area where the Pura 70 Pro shines. It delivers good details, sharpness, and vibrant colors, even in dimly lit environments, without introducing noticeable grains.
The 13MP selfie camera produces high-quality shots with true-to-life skin tones. While it maintains decent sharpness and detail, it tends to produce deep blacks in certain conditions.
In terms of video recording, the Pura 70 Pro can shoot up to 4K@60FPS. However, while it features Steady Shot, it is limited to 1080P@60FPS.
Moving on to the performance aspect, the Huawei Pura 70 Pro is powered by a Kirin 9010 chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This robust combination ensures smooth operation across various tasks, including social media browsing, gaming, and video streaming. Even with multiple applications running simultaneously in the background, the device exhibits no signs of slowing down.
Gaming on the Pura 70 Pro is a seamless experience, with the device effortlessly handling most titles without any noticeable issues. While prolonged gaming sessions may cause the device to heat up slightly, it doesn’t impact gaming performance. In our testing, playing games like Honkai Star Rail showed no frame drops or stuttering, further emphasizing the device’s gaming prowess.
Benchmark results further validate its prowess, showcasing consistent performance across various tasks.

Now, let’s talk about the battery and charging capabilities of the Huawei Pura 70 Pro. Equipped with a robust 5050mAh battery, the device ensures long-lasting usage on a single charge. Paired with 100W of SuperCharge and 80W of Wireless SuperCharge, recharging the battery is a swift process.
During our video loop test, the 5050mAh battery impressed, lasting approximately 18 hours and 23 minutes before needing a recharge. Speaking of charging, the device’s 100W SuperCharge feature enables rapid replenishment, taking just around 30 minutes to charge the battery from 0 to 100%.
This flagship-level battery performance translates to extended screen time with minimal charging interruptions, a desirable trait for users seeking uninterrupted usage throughout the day.
In terms of pricing, the Huawei Pura 70 Pro is available at PHP59,999. When comparing it to the entire Pura 70 series lineup, the main distinctions lie in their storage capacities and camera specifications. However, despite being positioned as the middle child within the series, the Pura 70 Pro offers a commendable balance between features and affordability.
While it may entail some compromises compared to the Ultra variant, users can still expect a comparable experience. Notably, the Pura 70 Pro delivers an impressive camera performance, showcasing HUAWEI’s commitment to photography excellence. Despite the absence of Google applications, the device stands out as one of the best camera phones I’ve tested, making it a compelling choice for photography enthusiasts.
