
HUAWEI and Qualcomm have announced a multi-year patent licensing agreement.
The agreement includes cross-licenses for both companies’ patent portfolios this includes 5G, computing, AI, and networking.
As part of the deal, Qualcomm will also purchase certain HUAWEI U.S. patents related to computing, AI, networking, and other technologies.
The transaction is still subject to the necessary regulatory approvals before it can be completed.
Both companies said the agreement follows fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (FRAND) licensing principles.
The deal covers patents used in several areas of technology. HUAWEI cited its contributions to 4G and 5G standards, while Qualcomm highlighted its work on wireless technologies and 5G.
On the other hand, HUAWEI just launched its new HUAWEI Mate 90 Series, which consist of the HUAWEI Mate 90 and HUAWEI Mate 90 Pro Max.
