However, there’s still hope since Windows 10 gives you the option to go back to an earlier release, and you have every right to utilize it. We urge you to wait a little while longer before making the decision to uninstall the Anniversary Update from your computer because it is still relatively new and has a lot of wonderful features, so you could end up like it in the end. HOW CAN I UNINSTALL THE WINDOWS 10 ANNIVERSARY UPDATE?

Go Back to a Prior Version of Windows 10 – You have ten days from installing the Anniversary Update to restore your OS to a previous backup. You don’t need to install any extra third-party programs in order to remove the upgrade and revert to version 1511 from 1607. Everything you need to delete is available in the Settings app for Windows 10.

  1. In the search box, hit the Windows key and enter “settings.”
  2. To launch the Settings app, select the first result.
  3. Go to Updates & security > Recovery in the app.
  4. Select Revert to older builds.

You’ll be back at Windows 10 version 1511 after the rollback is complete. This was the simplest way to return to the prior version of Windows 10, but if you can’t do so for whatever reason, there is still a way to uninstall the Anniversary Update.

USE ADVANCED STARTUP

You probably want to go back to the prior version if the Anniversary Update genuinely gave you issues, such as booting troubles, that prevented you from using your computer. So, if you can’t boot to the desktop, we’ll demonstrate how to uninstall the Anniversary Update using the Advanced Startup.

But you need a bootable disk with it in order to go back to Windows 10 version 1511. Therefore, you won’t have any trouble removing the Anniversary Update if you had prepared a bootable disk using Microsoft’s November Update ISO files.

On the other side, you will be stuck with the Anniversary Update if you don’t have a bootable DVD with Windows 10 version 1511, which might be quite annoying if it breaks your PC. To remove the Anniversary Update using the Advanced startup, follow these steps:

  1. If you are unsure of how to access Advanced Options during startup, check Solution 1 from this post.
  2. See additional recovery options may be selected at the Advanced options screen.
  3. choose Revert to the prior build.
  4. Put your Administrator account’s password in here.
  5. To start the procedure, click Go back to the previous build.

There you have it, you now know how to remove the Anniversary Update even if your machine won’t boot up. As we previously stated, you must make a fresh bootable image and install it manually if you wish to return to the Anniversary Update.
