HONOR X9c 5G Gaming Review

We’re back with the HONOR X9c 5G, but this time, we’re putting its gaming performance to the test.

We’ve already seen how it handles everyday use, but can it tackle both competitive and graphically demanding titles?

We’re testing six games today—three competitive and three graphically intense ones. Let’s dive right in!

Game Test #1: Mobile Legends

Settings: High Frame Rates, High Graphics, 60 FPS

Let’s start with the competitive titles. First up is Mobile Legends. Its default settings are set to high frame rates and high graphics quality.

There’s also an option for ultra settings, so we’ll max it out.

As you can see, we get a consistent 60 FPS, which is great. The performance is smooth with no frame drops or stutter during our playthrough.

However, a few minutes into the game, the HONOR X9c 5G starts to feel warm. After a few games, the performance remains consistent, which is excellent. So for Mobile Legends, with the maxed-out settings, we get 58 to 60 FPS.

Game Test #2: League of Legends: Wild Rift

Settings: Default, 60 FPS | High Graphics, 120 FPS

Next, we have League of Legends: Wild Rift. Some devices I’ve tested have had trouble running the opening sequence, with frame drops during the cutscenes.

But for the HONOR X9c 5G, I never encountered any issues. The default setting is set to performance, with 60 FPS. When customizing the options, 120 FPS is available, but it can only be paired with high graphics quality and medium resolution.

Since we’re using a 120Hz display, we’ll cap it out at 120 FPS. In terms of performance, even with the 120 FPS setting, we only get a consistent 60 FPS.

I did notice it briefly going above 70 frames at the start of the game. For the 120 FPS, high graphics quality, and medium resolution settings, we get 60 to 72 FPS.

Game Test #3: Call of Duty Mobile

Settings: High Graphics, Very High Frame Rate, 60 FPS

Up next is Call of Duty: Mobile. The default settings are high graphics quality and a very high frame rate. Max frame rate is available, so we’ll pair both high graphics and max frames.

As for performance, during gunfights, I never encountered any frame drops or stutter. It was responsive, and I was able to easily make 360-degree shots without problems.

I did notice a slight frame drop when the match first started, but once all the players were loaded in, there were no further performance issues. So with high graphics quality and the max frame rate, we get 57 to 60 FPS.

Game Test #4: Zenless Zero

Settings: Low Graphics, 60 FPS

Now, moving on to the graphically demanding titles. First, we’ll test Zenless Zone Zero. I recommend playing on low graphics quality paired with 60 FPS.

In certain towns, the frame rate varies. While strolling through 6th Street, we get around 45 FPS, but in Lumina Square, it drops to about 35 FPS.

In combat, the HONOR X9c 5G offers from 24 to 35 FPS. With lots of animations on-screen, there are some minor stutters. Even though the FPS range is from 20 to 35, the performance still feels smooth.

I would recommend sticking to dailies on this device, but it’s bearable enough to try other game modes. So, with the lowest settings and 60 FPS, we get 24 to 35 FPS during combat and 38 to 46 FPS out of combat.

Game Test #5: Wuthering Waves

Settings: Balanced, 60 FPS

Next up is Wuthering Waves. The default setting is balanced, but we’ll set it to low and 60 FPS.

In the overworld, we get around 45 to 55 FPS in certain locations. During combat, the FPS dips from 23 to 34, especially when activating your resonance liberation.

While there are some frame drops and stutters, they’re not too noticeable and are quite bearable. The combat still feels great, even with the occasional FPS dip. So, with low settings and 60 FPS, we get 40 to 53 FPS in exploration and 23 to 34 FPS in combat.

Game Test #6: Genshin Impact

Settings: Low Graphics, 60 FPS

Lastly, we have Genshin Impact. The settings are also set to the lowest with 60 FPS. While exploring the overworld, we get about 40 to 45 FPS, which is great.

There are no frame drops or stutters on HONOR X9c 5G, but since we’re playing on low graphics, expect the quality to be a bit blurry. In combat, the FPS ranges from 34 to 45 FPS.

There are some occasional stutters, but they’re mostly unnoticeable. Surprisingly, Genshin Impact runs smoothly, but I wouldn’t recommend using HONOR X9c 5G for endgame content due to the occasional frame drops. So, with low settings and 60 FPS, we get 40 to 53 FPS in exploration and 34 to 45 FPS in combat.

Verdict

Overall, the HONOR X9c 5G is not just a durable device; it delivers solid performance for gaming as well. Competitive titles run smoothly with little to no issues, while graphically demanding games offer bearable performance despite inconsistent frame rates.
