HONOR X7d Review

In this article, we’re taking a closer look at HONOR’s latest entry-level offering, the HONOR X7d.

Despite its affordable price tag, this device brings several notable features to the table, including a large battery and a high-resolution camera.

But are those enough to make it stand out in today’s competitive budget smartphone market? Let’s find out.

Design

The HONOR X7d sports a modern yet practical design. Although it uses plastic for both the rear panel and frame, the build feels solid and durable. It weighs 208g, which is slightly heavier than expected, and measures 8.4mm thick.

Around the frame, you’ll find the volume rocker and power button on the right, an AI button on the left, an IR blaster and microphone on top, and at the bottom, a speaker grille, USB-C port, SIM tray, and another microphone.

Design-wise, the HONOR X7d delivers a somewhat premium look but lacks the true premium feel. Still, its IP65 dust and water resistance rating is a pleasant surprise for a phone in this price range.

Display

Up front, the HONOR X7d features a 6.77-inch TFT LCD display with a 1610 x 720 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

It’s decent for everyday use and multimedia consumption, but the difference between HD+ and FHD+ resolution is quite noticeable.

HONOR could have opted for a lower refresh rate in exchange for a higher resolution, as many devices in this price range already offer FHD+ panels with smooth refresh rates.

Cameras

The device features a dual rear camera setup comprising a 108MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor, while the front camera is equipped with an 8MP selfie shooter.

In daylight, photos appear bright with good detail and sharpness. Some shots tend to look slightly oversaturated, but overall, the results are more than acceptable for social media use.

In low-light conditions, the camera still produces visible colors and details, though some softness can be observed in certain shots.

Selfies, on the other hand, show natural skin tones, good clarity, and decent sharpness.

For video, both the rear and front cameras support recording at 1080p @ 30fps.

Performance

Under the hood, the HONOR X7d runs on the Snapdragon 685 chipset with Android 15 and MagicOS 9 on top. Our review unit comes with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, a generous amount for this segment.

You’ll find some bloatware and pre-installed apps, but these can easily be uninstalled to free up space. In daily use and multitasking, the phone performs smoothly and responsively.

We also tested it with Zenless Zone Zero, and while the gameplay was generally decent, there were occasional slowdowns, stutters, and frame drops. For light gaming and everyday tasks, however, performance is perfectly fine.

Battery Life

The HONOR X7d packs a 6,500mAh battery supported by 35W wired fast charging.

In our video loop test, the phone lasted around 13 hours and 27 minutes, a solid result for this capacity. Charging from 0 to 100% took roughly 1 hour and 56 minutes, which is reasonable given its large battery size.

Price and Verdict

The HONOR X7d is priced at PHP 9,999 for the 8GB + 512GB configuration. While it lacks an FHD+ display, it compensates with a massive battery, large storage, and an attractive design complete with IP65 protection.

However, considering the competition, there are other smartphones in the same price range that offer more balanced specs or better display quality. Still, if you’re a fan of the HONOR ecosystem or value battery life and storage above all, the X7d is a solid choice.

The HONOR X7d delivers good value for users who prioritize endurance and capacity over display sharpness and gaming performance. It’s not the best all-around budget phone out there, but it’s definitely a capable one.
