Here’s How the vivo V70 FE 200MP Camera Performs in Real Life

vivo V70 FE

After the launch of the vivo V70 in the Philippines, vivo is back in the market with the release of the vivo V70 FE.

Just like our vivo V70 camera test, we will also be focusing on the camera performance of this new device from the brand.

At a price starting at PHP25k, are the camera capabilities of the new vivo V70 FE something new? Will it pass your standards when it comes to cameras?

Read more to find out.

200MP OIS Ultra-Clear Main Camera

We have different types of vibes across the photos.

One thing we quickly noticed is the good dynamic range. In the photo with the red lanterns, the image looks vibrant without bleeding or losing detail.

For the garden shots, the trees and grass look natural instead of overly neon. Colors in general look nice and balanced, especially in an outdoor environment.

We also have a photo showing the top floors of a building. The window panes and textures look crisp and well-defined.

In other photos, shadows are lifted well. Like in the street shot below, you can still see cars, even those farther in the scene. HDR works well, though sometimes it makes the image look slightly less contrasty.

There’s some color fringing around high-contrast areas like power lines, and sharpening can be a bit strong at times.

To further test the capability of the vivo V70 FE’s 200MP OIS Ultra-Clear Main Camera, below are some side-by-side views of the same photo, with the top photo displaying the full original image, while the bottom sections show a cropped portion taken from that same image.

Keep in mind that the cropped photos were not produced using the camera’s digital zoom, but were instead taken directly from the original photo.

Here we can see that even when zooming into the cropped area, as shown in the second and third images, the vivo V70 FE is still able to preserve fine textures such as the roof tiles and dragon ornaments. Also, there is still a deep green hue on the roof and natural tones in the surrounding trees.

Now, adding a slightly trickier shot, let’s test a photo with different lighting and water textures. The camera managed to keep the red base of the bridge saturated despite the harsh sun.

If we take a closer look at the lily pads, the vivo V70 FE is able to capture the pinkish-red hue of the single blooming lotus, as well as the small yellow fallen leaves floating on the water.

Even in the 3rd crop, the ripples in the water maintain their fluid shape. The photos gave great, cropped photos rather than being smoothed over by aggressive noise reduction.

Overall, the vivo V70 FE captures photos that look natural and easy on the eyes, with good dynamic range. It also delivers a high level of detail, staying true to its “Ultra-Clear” positioning. The results are good for social media posting without the need for extra editing.

AI 30x Super Zoom

Aside from the 200MP OIS Ultra-Clear Main Camera, vivo also offers a feature, which is the AI 30x Super Zoom.

As seen on the samples below,  the AI does a solid job of reconstructing the clean lines of the subjects.

Just like the building shot, the edges of the circular frame and the moldings look good for a 30x digital crop.

The lighting is handled well, too, like the one with the lamp photo. The AI has managed to keep the glass clear without turning it like it’s melting.

However, keep in mind that some of the photos might not be that satisfying as 30x zoom is far beyond the physical focal length of the lens. Some shots might look smeared, just like the photo showing a fountain.

In my opinion, I would probably use this feature more when I’m looking at a sign that’s too far away, and I need to read it from a distance. I think the 30× AI zoom will be a great help in that kind of situation.

ZEISS Multifocal Portrait

Now, let’s talk about its performance when it comes to portraits. Here we have some casual park portraits taken with the vivo V70 FE.

Just like the main camera, the portrait results were good enough for social media too. Sharpness may be limited, but skin tones are mostly natural, and colors are pleasant.

The good thing about vivo’s focal portraits is that you don’t need to move much if you’re the one taking photos because switching between different focal lengths is easy.

The 85mm focal length is one of our favorites because it doesn’t look too close, but it also doesn’t feel too far from the subject. The photos turn out great, especially when taking pictures of people, because the framing feels just right.

It is also ideal for social media profile pictures and posts, as they keep the subject in focus while still showing some of the background.

Also, the ZEISS style bokeh effect does a great job separating the subject from the background, and even when shooting in bright daylight, the photos do not give too exposed results.

However, keep in mind that in a harsh morning sun, especially in the Philippines, some photos may look smudged.

It might give visible noise reduction smearing, making photos look waxy or painted. But when there are better lighting conditions, the vivo V70 FE is good. It does the job for its price class.

Overall, using the vivo V70 FE for your upcoming summer getaways will do a decent job for a mid-range device.

Night Photography

In the evening, the vivo V70 FE is still able to perform well.

As seen in one of our sample shots below, the illuminated signs are visible without resulting in a blown out image with the lights. As some of you might notice, night shots sometimes turn yellow or orange under streetlights, but the V70 FE has balanced the white point well.

Yes, there might be noticeable digital noise, especially in darker areas and shadows like the sky. But it wasn’t to the point that it looked fuzzy, the camera sensor was also able to capture decent exposure and color in well-lit areas.

Thus, for night photography, the vivo V70 FE’s camera does a great job with color reproduction.
