GoPro officially launched the successors to their Hero and Session action camera lineups, the Hero 5 Black and Hero 5 Session. Both are already priced in the Philippines and will be available starting this October.
In terms of specs, the GoPro Hero 5 Black and Hero 5 Session share most of the hardware and software features including the native 10-meter waterproofing, EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization), automatic cloud upload, voice control, and 4K video at 30fps. What separates the Hero 5 Black from the Session is its 12MP sensor (versus 10MP), RAW support, and GPS. The larger Hero 5 will so have a 2-inch touch display, first on the Hero line.
For $100 less, the Hero 5 Session will have a generous 10MP camera sensor backed by the voice control and waterproof certification in exchange of the 2-inch touch display and built-in GPS.
Both are priced $399 and $299 (before taxes) for the Hero 5 Black and Hero 5 Session, respectively. Meanwhile release date starts early as October.
In the Philippines, online stores like Widget City have started accepting pre-orders for the two variants with prices of P21,990 and P16,490 pesos including brand’s official warranty. Of course, prices may differ once more stores will start offering, but we guess there will only be less variation on either SRP.
