Google Podcasts is set to bid farewell in April 2024, marking the end of its standalone app. This decision comes after Google merged podcasts into YouTube in 2022, streamlining its audio services.
For a smooth transition, Google has introduced a handy migration tool. Currently available to users in the United States, it will soon roll out globally. To use it, keep an eye out for the tool in the Google Podcasts app in the coming weeks or find step-by-step instructions on Google’s support website.
Users can still enjoy podcasts within the app until March 2024. While the migration and subscription export options will be open until July 2024, giving everyone ample time to adapt.
If you’re feeling cautious due to Google’s past closures of podcast apps like Google Listen and Google Play Music Podcasts, there’s an alternative.
Export your subscriptions as an OPML file here until August 2024, allowing you to import them into another podcast app of your choice.
