Google has introduced a new way for users to sign in to their Google Account using a selfie video.
The new option is designed for account recovery. It can help users access their account if they forget their password or lose access to their usual device, such as a phone or laptop.
According to Google, the selfie video is used only to verify a user’s identity during sign-in, unless they choose to allow additional uses.
The company also said it uses multiple security measures to detect impersonation attempts, including deepfakes.
The selfie video is stored securely and can be deleted at any time through the user’s Google Account settings.

The feature provides another account recovery method alongside existing options such as passwords, passkeys, and verification codes.
Google has not yet announced if the feature is available to all users worldwide. Stay tuned.
