Despite rumors about a possible delay, the market knows that Google is expected to unveil the new Pixel 6a and also its first smartwatch later this year. Leaks continue to steam and today we saw that the smartphone will have Tensor chipset.

However, just now the folks at LetsGoDigital have discovered an interesting patent about the future of the search giant’s wearables. That’s because a 2020 record shows that the company wants to expand the interface of its devices so that the user can control it through gestures on the skin.

The user can make a swipe gesture or touch the skin of the body, next to the wearable. The gesture creates a mechanical wave, so sensors and an accelerometer detect the movement and determine the type of gesture that should be sent to the watch face, for example.

When the gesture is done to operate the Pixel Buds, the user will need to touch the skin in front of the ear. The user can also define, through the application, the function of each gesture.

Google also says in its patent that machine learning technology will be used to distinguish between user movements and those that are gestures for the wearable.

For now, we don’t know if this technology will be present in the search giant’s next wearables. Even so, the chances of reaching the market are great, since other brands have also registered similar ideas.
